Kipp’s Apparatus is used to prepare gases. This alternative gas generator enables gases which are frequently needed in laboratories to be obtained in a simple way. Thus, gases can be generated at room temperature without having to resort to complicated gasometers. Production can also be halted at any moment so that reagents are not wasted. This apparatus can be used to obtain hydrogen, hydrogen sulphide and carbonic acid, and reacts liquid reagents such as sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid with solid reagents such as marble, zinc or iron. This instrument, which was created by the scientist Kipp in 1844, was widely used due to its simplicity.
